Session Abstract:
TD Bank, Pride at Work Canada and The 519, Canada’s largest LGBTQ community centre, will facilitate a practical workshop exploring the Creating Authentic Spaces toolkit and why a trans inclusive workplace benefits all your employees and customers. Participants will review best-practice steps to implementing policies and practices that are inclusive of diverse gender identities and gender expressions. The session will highlight how this Canadian toolkit can support efforts nationally. The toolkit, pullout job-aids, and workshop explore: Gender Specific and Gender Neutral Pronouns; Being an Effective Trans Ally; Supporting Employees in Transition; Washrooms and Change Rooms; and Creating a Welcoming Environment. This session will appeal to those who are thinking of implementing change through to those who are more advanced in the process.
Value of this workshop?:
Participants will explore the Creating Authentic Spaces toolkit and pull-out job-aids. This content is applicable across many contexts and can be tailored to a variety of workplace environments. We will discuss tips and tools around how to implement best practices, which help our workplaces foster an environment that is welcoming for all gender identities and gender expressions. This interactive session provides participants an opportunity to discuss real life situations, tips and tools that support the implementation of structural change, as well as an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge around language and best inclusive practices. Finally, this session will be led by facilitators who created this toolkit, providing organizations an opportunity to engage with subject matter experts:
